Kestrel

Kestrel in flight. Kestrels can hover almost perfectly still. The common kestrel is famous for “hovering” while hunting, rapidly beating its wings and fanning its tail to stay fixed over the ground. I printed this kestrel in a beautiful warm sienna hue with an off-white/beige-brown paper that I think really suits the print. I hope you like her as much as I do.

A note about handmade prints:

Each print is individually hand-printed, so no two prints will ever be completely identical. Small variations in ink coverage, pressure, texture and registration are a natural part of the linocut process, and you may notice tiny areas of ink, subtle marks or other little differences from one print to another. These are not flaws, but part of what makes each hand-pulled print unique.

The paper I use is also a beautiful handmade, fibrous Washi paper, so you may see natural speckles, flecks and strands of different colours within the paper. These can sometimes be visible around the edges or through areas of the print. Each sheet has its own character, meaning every print is genuinely one of a kind.
