Gently

Gently. I made this print from a photograph of my son's hands while he was holding a teeny, tiny snail. It's not my usual sort of style or subject really, but it feels super poignant to me. I feel incredibly lucky that I grew up the way I did, immersed and encouraged to explore nature and wildlife - it's shaped who I am and it's something I get to share with my own children. I grew up with muddy knees, sandy feet, blackberry picking, watching ants nests, rockpooling for crabs and watching the birds... something that isn't so common now, but vital experience to make our kiddos care for the world around us and everything that lives in it. Looking at this print makes me feel happy and hopeful and I hope it does for you too.

A note about handmade prints:

Each print is individually hand-printed, so no two prints will ever be completely identical. Small variations in ink coverage, pressure, texture and registration are a natural part of the linocut process, and you may notice tiny areas of ink, subtle marks or other little differences from one print to another. These are not flaws, but part of what makes each hand-pulled print unique.

The paper I use is also a beautiful handmade, fibrous Washi paper, so you may see natural speckles, flecks and strands of different colours within the paper. These can sometimes be visible around the edges or through areas of the print. Each sheet has its own character, meaning every print is genuinely one of a kind.
